Stigma Campaign

Pozhet (Heterosexual HIV Service) and the Multicultural HIV and Hepatitis Service (MHAHS) have partnered to develop a short animation that aims to increase the community’s awareness that HIV is a manageable condition, and to debunk myths about how HIV is transmitted. The animation shows that advances in treatment and prevention mean that people living with HIV can:

  • Enjoy long and healthy lives
  • Have healthy children free of HIV
  • Have relationships without passing on HIV to others

The animation uses blood-drop characters without dialogue and simple and clear messages to tell a story about a family living with HIV. The target audience for the animation is the general community. The in-language versions will be launched in early 2022 with messages translated into seven priority community languages including Arabic, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Thai, Spanish and Portuguese.

The animation and messages can be viewed on the Pozhet website: pozhet.org.au/stigma_campaign/
