In November 2012 Pozhet had our Spring Workshop held in Sydney.
Twenty five people attended and regional NSW was well represented with people coming from all over Southern and Northern NSW.
A total of 14 people were accepted for the Pozhet Accommodation Scholarship, staying 2 nights in the luxurious Sebel Hotel.
The Workshop featured a panel of experts (2 positive men and 1 positive woman, Dr Virginia Furner and Angela Miller from Sydney Children’s Hospital) discussing important topics like Treatments and their role in health and preventing transmission of HIV, disclosure, relationships with HIV negative people, having a baby, and up to date information about the number of positive straight people in Australia. The audience asked questions and people responded, especially the positive people who spoke from their own experience.
We had a delicious lunch and then settled into men’s, women’s and partner’s groups, followed by a big group where people spoke about what they wanted to learn more about and shared their stories. Ageing, living wills and legal matters were mentioned and we hope to feature these important issues at the next workshop.
