Inconsistent guidelines around treatment initiation

A group of international writers in AIDSJournal, including David Cooper from UNSW conclude that we do not yet have sufficiently strong evidence to recommend that antiretroviral treatment (ART) should be offered to all people with HIV, regardless of their CD4 count. A summary of the article in AIDSmap states that there is obvious inconsistencies between guidelines from a variety of leading bodies around the world. These include WHO (World Health Organisation), US Department of Human Services and Health and BHIVA (British HIV Association).

Australia broadly follows the US guidelines with a group of experts developing Australian commentary on certain aspects .
