Change to HIV medication guidelines

The Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) has decided to expand access to HIV antiretroviral medications to everyone who has HIV and is a resident of Australia.  Up until recently in Australia, only those with more advanced HIV or symptoms could access subsidised HIV treatment. Evidence is growing which indicates that early treatment is beneficial. Now everyone will be able to access these treatments as soon as they are diagnosed if they choose to do so. For more details see the December 2013 media release by ASHM, NAPWHA and AFAO.
