The ABC’s radio program the Health Report recently presented a program on HIV in Australia. This program was developed on the back of the recent report of an increase in HIV cases by the Kirby Institute.
The 14th European AIDS Conference was held in Brussels in October of this year.
Professor Francois Raffi of Centre Hospitalier Universitaire in Nantes presented Antiretroviral therapy — new strategies or new drugs? in the closing lecture of the conference. He spoke about a range of new medications and strategies that are currently being trialled to treat HIV.
The rate of newly diagnosed HIV infections in Australia has risen by 10% in 12 months – the largest increase in 20 years, a new report shows. The data is outlined in the Kirby Institute’s Australia Annual Surveillance Report, was released recently at the Australasian HIV/AIDS Conference 2013 in Darwin. (more…)
