The Project on Channel 10 recently interviewed an 83 year old married heterosexual man who has sex with men.
Heterosexual men who have sex with men are still a hidden group who do not see themselves as part of the gay community. They miss important HIV messages as campaigns do not usually target this population. The Project on Channel 10 recently interviewed an 83 year old married heterosexual man who sometimes has sex with men. He was diagnosed 8 years ago and describes his experience being diagnosed and living with HIV. Like most heterosexual men he remains anonymous as he fears the stigma and discrimination which are still very real.
This group of men and their female partners need to be encouraged to test for HIV.
