No more co-payments for Section 100 Highly Specialised Drugs prescriptions in NSW

The NSW Government has announced that they will be covering the co-payment on Section 100 Highly Specialised Drugs or S100 chemotherapy medicines in NSW. This means these drugs will be free in NSW as the co-payment is what you currently pay towards prescriptions (currently $6.10 or $37.70 for most medicines). The changes will apply to HIV, hepatitis, rheumatoid arthritis and other drugs and will benefit many people living with chronic conditions. From the 1st October 2015, patients of public hospitals or authorised prescribers, whether or not they have their prescriptions filled at a hospital pharmacy or a community pharmacy will not have to make a co-payment. The amount will still go towards the safety net. For more information talk to your doctor and have a read of the Patient Factsheet.
